Dresstimonials: Journeys from Rags to Richness

By Juliette Jarreau

Have you ever had a secret you wish you had told someone?

Have you ever had an experience that required a healing?

Has there ever been at time you chose to celebrate something forgotten?

In Dresstimonials: Journeys From Rags To Richness, author Juliette Jarreau begins by sharing testimonials of black women who journeyed through the devastation of violence and abuse and rose to create the richness of a life celebrated.

Dresstimonials: Journeys From Rags To Richness “is a vehicle for exposing the atrocities, interpersonal violence, oppression, genocide, and it is a way of ‘breaking the silence’ through the visual narrative of art expression.”

- Dr. Barbara M. Scott, Professor Emeritus of Black Sociology and Gender Studies, Northeastern University

At the end of Dresstimonials: Journeys From Rags To Richness she crushes taboos with humor centered around sexuality in Reclamation -The Vagina Speaks. The truth of the history of violence and abuse among black women teaches us that Women’s Rights should be inalienable. This Artist Book includes visual art revealing vivid messages portrayed in the book.
