Valerie Ewing donated her time and creativity to the success of the 2002 SisterSpeak Conference. Valerie took the responsibility for designing a voice wall and securing the supplies needed to create the project. Valerie used the voice wall to compose a book that will serve as a lasting testimony to the strength of those women and girls who participated in SisterSPEAK 2002 Conference.

Ewing’s works are ingenious in it’s use of the familiar as a entryway into our deeper emotions. Few in the political art world can relay their message as simply. My only hope is that more people see Ewing’s work. Their lives will be changed for the better.

The project is partially supported by a community arts assisted program grant by the City of Chicago Department of Cultural Affairs and Special Events and the Illinois Arts Councils State Agency
